The American dream over his shoulder, Adam Wood sings in Kerouac’s language since 2012, tunes that often go straight to your heart, between a neglected rock and an incarnated folk. When he doesn’t come back from one of its more or less imaginary travel on one side or and other from the Atlantique, the one that also became the founder of the excellent Freemount Records label (Dragon Rapide, Woody Murder Mystery, The Marshals,…) likes to meet up in his favorite spots in Clermont.
« I could not avoid including that bar, in which I spent (and still spend) a huge amount of time. I’ve been going for 8 years now, Yan and Jamie - of the Elderberries - first introduced me to this place. It is no secret that I love spending time at the counter, remaking the world over a pint with friends, listening to people’s stories, watching soccer or basketball games. It may sound silly but it has always been part of my balance when I settled in a new city. I love Le Derrière, all the waiters have become friends, and I can go without needing to call: I will always find someone I know to drink a beer or a coffee. Without forgetting the Place de la Victoire, always animated, in summer or winter, it is always a great pleasure to spend time there. »
Le Bistrot de la Mairie
« I find it is one of the last establishments in Clermont-Ferrand that can still be qualified as a “Bistrot de quartier”. The place is very beautiful, something of the timeless charm of an old coffee shop, but modern at the same time. You may stumble into antique dealers of the neighborhood, or City Hall employees wearing a suit, or old rockers from the Butte. It is one of the best tables in town if you are looking for lunch daily special. Sylvain’s cooking is simple and generous. I love Friday nights mix that Camille organizes for close to two years now. There is always good music and I am a great admirer of the way she rejuvenated the place and made those evenings a solid value to start the weekend on the right foot. I participated in memorable parties there, and it is one of my favorite places in town. »
« At Pasquale and Mina, behind the Jaude square, you are always welcomed with a smile – it is by far the best pizzeria in town. I am an unconditional fan of pizzas, and if you are too, you can trust this place with your eyes closed. »
